Your tour itinerary

Step 1: Vatican Museums

Your day starts by meeting your expert art historian guide who has a carefully crafted itinerary through the Vatican Museums prepared. You’ll pass the crowds in line and make your way towards the Sistine Chapel. Along the way, you’ll look around the incredible Raphael Rooms and a wide variety of galleries filled to the ceiling with ancient sculptures, medieval maps, pristine paintings, delicate tapestries, and precious relics.

Step 2: The Sistine Chapel

In the Sistine Chapel, you’ll see the frescoes of Michelangelo that hold hidden secrets, including a personal message to the Pope. Michelangelo will also appear again beneath the vast dome he designed for Saint Peter’s Basilica, with his name carved in his Pietá. As you exit through St Peter’s Square you have free time to explore on your own and dine at a local Italian café. (Please be advised that St. Peter’s Basilica will not be accessible until end of September 2020)

Step 3: The Colosseum

In the early afternoon, once relaxed and well-fed, you’ll join your guide with Skip-the-line access to the Colosseum, one of the world’s greatest wonders. Your local English-speaking guide is an expert in archaeology and history so they will take you back in time to the ancient Roman empire. As you stroll through the vast walls of the Colosseum your guide will recount the gruesome spectacles, battles, and politics that played out here.

Step 4: Palatine Hill

You will go even further back in time to Palatine Hill where Rome was founded by the wolf-raised Romulus. To get there you will pass through the deserted temples of the Roman Forum, the political and economic heart of the ancient empire. It is an experience like no other in the Eternal City, and only City Wonders can provide it on an incredible one-day excursion.

Important information:

Following the new regulations regarding Coronavirus, at the entrance your body temperature will be checked. If a body temperature above 37.5 ° C is registered, you will not be able to enter the site.

All visitors must wear the mask both at the entrance and during the entire visit and always keep the safety distance of 1.80 m

The Vatican tour will take place in the morning at 10:30 am while the Colosseum tour will be held in the afternoon at 3:20 pm. On our Vatican morning tours the guide will provide commentary on St Peter’s Basilica  from St Peter’s Square before customers enter the Basilica to admire it by themselves (Please be advised that St. Peter’s Basilica will not be accessible until end of September 2020)

St. Peter’s Basilica will not be accessible until end of September 2020. On Wednesdays Saint Peter's Basilica may be closed to facilitate the Papal Audience. Customers who wish to visit Saint Peter's Basilica are advised to travel on another day.

The Basilica and other religious sites are subject to occasional closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we will provide guests with an extended tour of the Vatican Museums, or an appropriate alternative. In these cases, we are unable to provide refunds or discounts.

Appropriate dress is required for entry into some sites on this tour. Knees, shoulders, and backs must be covered. Due to increased security measures at many attractions, some lines may form on tours with 'Skip-the-Line' or 'No Wait' access.

Please note that in case of unexpected closures of some of the areas inside the Museums, the guide may have to modify the itinerary slightly. For example, if some of the internal connecting areas are closed for safety reasons, Raphael's Rooms may be replaced with Pio Clementino Museum, where Laocoon and Apollo Belvedere statues are.
