Tour Itinerary: 

Milan Duomo
After meeting your group at the Piazza del Duomo, you’ll head right for the spectacular, multi-spired Gothic cathedral that dominates the square. As you explore inside (bypassing the long entry lines), you’ll learn all about how this vast building—the largest Gothic cathedral in the world—took more than 600 years to build. You’ll also get to wander through its cavernous naves, dominated by huge and elaborately paneled stained-glass windows.

Piazza della Scala
This wide pedestrian square has been called “called the drawing room of Milan,” for its centrality and its cultural significance. It’s home to the world-famous Scala Theatre—which has been Milan’s opera house since 1778, and where Giuseppe Verdi once debuted his operatic productions. It’s also however, adjacent to the glittering Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a 19th-century glass-vaulted shopping arcade that is a hub for the city’s modern-day fashionistas.  

Castello Sforzesco and Brera District
A walk through winding streets next brings you to another of Milan’s most important landmarks: Castello Sforzesco, an imposing, 15th-century red brick fortress that was home to the city’s powerful Renaissance-era Sforza dynasty. Today the complex houses several of the city’s premier museums and artworks (including the last, unfinished sculpture by Michelangelo). After your tour of the castle, you’ll walk through the nearby Brera District—a chic enclave where the historic buildings house trendy cafés, boutiques, restaurants and bars.

Important to Know:

• Please be sure to arrive at the tour departure point 15 minutes before the starting time. Guests arriving after departure cannot be accommodated, and missed tours or tickets will not be refunded.
  
• Unfortunately, wheelchairs and strollers cannot be accommodated on this tour.
• Please note that photography is prohibited inside the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Duomo. (Photography is permitted on all other parts of the tour.)
• Please note that tours are not permitted inside the Duomo on Sundays. Sunday tour participants will instead be given an extended tour of the Duomo’s exterior.
  

Important to Bring:

• A small purse or camera bag only (no backpacks or large shoulder bags). Security checks at some sites restrict the size of bags that can be brought inside.
• Clothing that covers your knees and shoulders. Entry into the Duomo and Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie requires adherence to these dress codes.
• Good walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Many parts of the itinerary are not shaded.Entrance tickets to the museum and Teatro della Scala. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and will allow entry to the museum and theater on the following day
